The Ru Porcelain Museum in Ruzhou, the home of Ru porcelain in Central China's Henan province, began construction in 2005 and opened to the public in June 2012, officiated by the Henan Bureau of Cultural Relics. This is the province's first museum to focus on Ru porcelain.

Located on the eighth floor of the Jinding Times Square building on Guangcheng Zhong Road in Ruzhou, the museum covers 5,000 square meters. Its layout is made up of four sections: an exhibition of its collections, a storehouse, a technical center for the preservation of cultural relics, and a public-service and administrative area.

The exhibition center has three halls and a culture corridor, each holding collections from different schools and genres. There are also collections of jade and sculpture. The culture corridor displays the "three treasures" of Ruzhou: Ruzhou calligraphy, Ru porcelain and Ru jade, as well as ancient kiln tools and repairing facilities that were used historically. The museum has more than 1,980 objects in its collection so far.

The museum was designated as Top 10 Chinese Folk Culture Museum in 2012, and a Center for Science Popularization in the city. The museum is also part of another project currently under construction, the Characteristic Quarter of the Porcelain Capital of China, which will become a main touristic draw for Ru porcelain culture. The Quarter will host museum exhibitions, tourism sites, ecological sites and business centers. After its construction, it will be a cultural landmark in Ruzhou city.

The museum shows the quintessential Chinese porcelain art. As a center for historical education, it will boost Ruzhou's cultural industry, promote the city's image and increase interest in the arts.
