Some 76 schoolmasters from Ruzhou's middle schools and primary schools just finished a one-week intensive training program to improve their competence.

The program, which was held by the Ruzhou education and sports bureau, aims to help people in education learn about more advanced education concepts and managing methods.

To improve the overall quality of education, similar programs have been held for a long time. Last year, about 226 schoolmasters from the city's middle schools and primary schools took part in different training programs.

Moreover, the city has encouraged schoolmasters from the city to work in villages to help bring over new ideas. About 12 of them were transferred from the city to villages last year.

The city has also encouraged people to recommend leaders for the schools, especially those with excellent skills in teaching and whose managing style is popular with the public.

After the adjustments, the headmasters of the middle schools in the city are much younger than before. The exchanges between schools, the city and the village have also been strengthened. Song Er'hu, head of the bureau, says after two to three years, the education situation in the city will be improved greatly, as he believes a younger leader team will bring vitality to education.
