Ruzhou's municipal party committee office specially invited Professor Gao Youpeng from Henan University to give a lecture titled The Power of Culture on Feb 26. Wang Yingmin, municipal standing committee and general secretary, attended the lecture with all the staff.

Gao Youpeng is a distinguished professor in Henan University, a famous expert on folklore, a research supervisor and a Henan academic leader with rich experience teaching folklore. Gao has published several novels, including Yuan Shikai, Folk Fairs and Culture of Chinese Fairs. He has also given lectures on TV about Chinese New Year. He has made proposals to protect folk festivals and traditional cultures like Spring Festival, arousing wide concern and great responses in society.

Gao expounded on the definition, constitution and function of culture. He said that the cultural mission is to lead the times, integrate advanced elements in traditional and fashionable cultures, and set up a strong faith in the country, the nation, society and family within people’s mind. Gao also put forward his own opinions on how Ru culture contributes to the nation.

Wang Yingmin praised Professor Gao’s lecture and encouraged the staff to fully understand the lecture to develop cultural energy and expand cultural construction achievements.
