Internet Plus Longmen bags ‘Tengfei’ award

In a significant achievement, Longmen Grottoes scenic area in Luoyang, Henan province won the “Tengfei” award during the 2015 Tencent Global Partner Conference held from Oct 22 to 24 in Chongqing.

It’s the first time that Tencent has given the award, a top honor for its partners to a smart tourism project, said a principal of Tencent, China’s largest Internet company by market value.

Longmen Grottoes, treasure house of ancient Buddhist cave art got the award for its innovative achievements in the “Internet Plus Longmen” smart scenic area construction.

The Longmen had signed an agreement with Tencent in April to build the nation’s first “Internet Plus” tourism spot. The project has won wide appreciation for its efficient implementation, smooth operation and good result. It helps the scenic area achieve transformation in management, ticketing, visiting service and publicity.

The two sides have also jointly established an Internet Plus Comprehensive Demonstrative Base program, the first of its kind developed by Tencent.

During the “Internet Plus Smart City” session of the conference, more than 600 elite minds from government, academic circles as well as industry insiders brainstormed smart city development under the Internet Plus context.

Longmen Grottoes was the brightest star at the forum.

According to Shu Zhan, a senior executive of Tencent’s regional business unit, during the WeChat ticketing promotions jointly launched by the company and more than 150 scenic areas across the country in the National Day holiday, the number of tickets sold through WeChat at Longmen Grottoes accounted for 37.5 percent of the total, standing far ahead of other scenic areas.

Tencent Vice President Chen Juhong contributed the effective cooperation between the scenic area and Tencent to the success. With the launch of the Internet Plus Comprehensive Demonstrative Base, the two sides expects deeper cooperation on the “Internet Plus” exploration and practice in the future.
