The Baiyuan Garden refers to the mausoleum of Bai Juyi, an outstanding poet of the Tang Dynasty who lived between AD 772 and AD 846. The Baiyuan Garden is located at the east hill of Longmen, opposite slightly to one side of the Longmen Grottoes across the Yihe River. On a peak called Pipa in this garden is the tomb of the great Tang Dynasty poet Bai Juyi.

The tomb of Bai Juyi is a round mound of earth, 4 meters high, with a circumference of 52 meters. In front of the tomb stands a tombstone of 2.80 meters high, which reads, “The Tomb of Bai Juyi”.

The important scenic spots in the Baiyuan Garden are Qinggu, Tingyi Pavillion, Letian Hall, Bai Pavillion, Bird’s Head Gate, Peak Pipa, Bai Juyi’s Tomb, Daoshi Reading Room among others.

As a garden was constructed in sync with the style of the Tang Dynasty, it is a good place to console with the great poet as well as a tourist resort.
