Some Ru porcelain, from the city of Ruzhou, Henan province garnered 43 awards at the province's Folk Arts Festival for this year, with eight pieces taking first prize, seven with second, 21 in third place, and seven with an honorary prize.

The biennial festival is a way to exhibit traditional folk arts, and with a theme this year of ceramics from the province. It took place at the Henan Art Center, in Zhengzhou, the capital, on Sept 29, with 213 ceramic pieces on exhibit, and with the Ru porcelain a real stand-out because of its firing technique and unique design.

Sponsor of the festival is the provincial Culture Bureau and the Public Culture Center.
