Staged every five years, the Henan Arts Exhibition is the largest in the province with the widest variety of painting styles. The exhibition, which runs until July 25, is housed in three venues - the Arts Museum of Henan, Zhengzhou Arts Museum - Zhengzhou being the capital of Henan province in North China - and Shengda Arts Center.

Jointly organized by the Henan branch of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, Henan Culture Department and Henan Fine Arts Association, the 12th edition of the exhibition features ink and wash paintings, oils, watercolor, engravings and sculptures, 1,071 pieces in total, selected from 6,000 works from throughout the province by a judging panel. With a variety of themes and styles, Henan's achievements in economy, social development, culture and ecology in the past five years are featured.

Zhao Suping, party committee member and director of the Henan Publicity Department; Jiang Duyun, vice dean of the People's Congress Standing Committee of Henan; Zhang Guangzhi, vice-governor of Henan and Jin Kewen, vice chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference in Henan province, joined an opening ceremony together with around 800 art lovers from all over the country.
