Construction of a pollution-free vegetable production demonstration base was launched in Zhifang township of Ruzhou, Central China’s Henan province, on Feb 25.

Ruzhou Xinyi Industry Co is financing the project and will apply an operation model including enterprises, production bases and farmers. A total of 170 million yuan ($27.76 million) will be invested into the technology-intensive pollution-free vegetable base. It will develop an agricultural industrialization model incorporating production organization, technology demonstration, technology research and development, and high-tech cultivation technology. The base hopes to boost the surrounding area’s development.

A total of 160 glass greenhouse buildings with steel-frame construction will be built in a total area of 13.3 hectares over a period of 16 months. The project is expected to achieve annual sales revenue of 20 million yuan. Nearly 1,000 farmer households will be benefited from the project, directly and indirectly.
