The city of Ruzhou, Henan province, has been looking for ways to help develop its cultural services and has come up with the following:

One, to put 800,000 yuan ($130,400) into a cultural information center, inside the city library, that is open to the public free of charge.

Two, promote showing digital films as part of a rural project that has already covered all villages and local communities within the city administration .

Three, increase training of people in literary and art fields, in rural areas. Already, this year, it has organized four workshops that provided training for several hundred amateurs and professionals alike.

Four, push the bringing-culture-to-the-countryside project, which already has at least 250 shows available for peasant audiences annually.

And, five, solve the problem of a lack of suitable reading rooms and cultural activity sites in rural areas.
