Ruzhou focuses on modern agriculture development

Ruzhou attaches importance to the development of modern agriculture and focuses on the development of modern characteristic agriculture. To further development, Ruzhou has optimized and combined various production factors and developed a group of leading enterprises. Ruzhou’s planting area in 2012 was about 12,464 hectares. Rural per capita net income totaled 8,989 yuan ($1,443), an increase of 15.5 percent year-on-year.

Ruzhou makes full use of beneficial farming policies and agricultural resources. Grain output in 2012 hit a record peak.

Ruzhou strongly promotes rural energy construction and the virtuous cycle of the agricultural ecosystem. Four large biogas projects and 2,000 biogas-use families were recently established. Six village-level biogas-use service sites were built to carry out basic technical service work for biogas users.

Ruzhou also energetically develops ecological agriculture such as organic vegetables and medicinal plants and actively guides agricultural leading enterprises and farmers’ cooperatives to develop green organic food. The city established 88 farmer cooperatives by the end of 2012. Ruzhou has developed 16 leading agricultural enterprises and seven agriculture industrialization clusters to date.
