Walking through the farms of Ruzhou, one will find a tidy and clean environment with stout and healthy livestock. The culturists look very happy to see their farms doing so well.

This year, in hopes of maintaining healthy development, the Ruzhou government has accelerated the standardization of aquaculture, expanded investment invitations, and encouraged the application of science and technology.

The local treasury department spent 2.75 million yuan to specifically promote companies, departments, counties and towns advanced in breeding, stock raising and straw silage in May. The investment greatly improved the development of stock raising in Ruzhou. To date, the number of standardized large farms has reached 3,000, including 45 newly-built farms, 76 percent of which are general stock raising farms.

In addition, the local bureau of animal husbandry met with the Nanjing Yurun Group Co. and discussed possibilities of cooperation on the Urban Economic Synthesis Project. In March, the bureau signed a cooperative agreement on the project of Urban Economic Synthesis and transportation with the company after a period of research and negotiation. The two-billion-yuan, 20-hectare project will complete construction in 1.5 years and is estimated to make a profit of 2.5 billion yuan in three years. The project will create jobs for over 4,000 people. The company has tasked four research teams with devising plans and the bureau is also actively communicating with responsible members for better service and preparation.

The Ruzhou government is also utilizing the advantage of stock raising skills to provide epidemic prevention and culturists training courses on breed improvement, breeding management, epidemic prevention and market conditions, and promotion of new breeding skills and systems. During the first half of 2012, the government organized 10 training courses and printed and distributed 10,000 units of press materials detailing stock breeding skills. It also popularized the method of artificial impregnation for sows by using the national subsidy program. The government provided services for the culturists before, during and after the sows’ parturition.
