In the morning of August 9, a ceremony of extending student subsidies was held at the meeting room of Ruzhou municipal committee building. Liu Shufang, from Hepo village in Qiling township, and 29 other college students each received a 1,000 yuan student grant. Wang Zhipeng, from Wangzhuang village in Qiling township, and nine other fresh students received 5,000 yuan each.

The activity, the fourth "Jixing student tuition assistance", was sponsored by the Communist Youth League Committee of Ruzhou city and Jixing Deyi (Henan) Industry Limited.

"I feel indebted. I will study hard to pay back the society," said Yin Ximing, from Zhifang township, on behalf of the subsidized students. Yin, the No 1 student of Pingdingshan in liberal arts from the college entrance examination, was recruited by Qinghua University.

In recent years, Ruzhou has vigorously launched scholarship and grants activity across the city. In 1994, Ruzhou municipal association of industry and commerce took the lead to carry out the Glory Merit Aid activity in Pingdingshan. From 2005 to 2010, entrepreneurs in the city were enthusiastic about participating in the event.

In total, 251 private entrepreneurs donated 7.44 million yuan to assist 2,500 students from poor families to attend university. Since 2003, Ruzhou Municipal Disabled Federation has promoted the activity of supporting the disabled to go to school. It had provided 200,000 yuan to 100 poor disabled students and children of disabled parents to go to college by the end of 2010. Ruzhou Municipal Federation of Trade Union launched the Golden Autumn Loving Heart Scholarship activity in 2008. By 2010, it had raised 875,000 yuan from 40 enterprises to aid 424 students from poor families.
