Ruzhou people's congress draws to a close

The fifth session of the sixth Ruzhou People's Congress, the city's legislative body, ended Tuesday in Ruzhou in central China's Henan province.

The delegates of the annual session deliberated on and approved a package of documents, including the city's Government Work Report, a draft of the Twelfth Five-year Plan (2011-2015) for social and economic development. They also reviewed the implementation of the plan for last year, and the plan for this year.

The financial budget for this year, the implementation of last year’s budget, and the work reports of the city's People's Court and procuratorate were also deliberated and approved.

At the closing ceremony of the annual session of the legislative body, Qiao Yi'en, was elected as chief of the people's procuratorate.

Li Quansheng, the city's party secretary, said social harmony and stability formed the preconditions and basis for sound development, and urged the people's congress's to play its role in soliciting public opinion and govern in a way that reflects the wishes of those they have been chosen to represent.
